Hey Mike, “America the Beautiful” and the Pledge of Allegiance were written by Democratic Socialists. That some dictatorships call themselves “socialist” and others call themselves “democracies” does not make either set of values and ideas inseparable from dictatorship. If socialist values are antithetical to our constitution, which I don’t believe, then public schools, the income tax, and Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, policies with socialist origins, might also be. But the constitution is a framework for governance, not a set of policies.
